The book is divided into two parts: Wolfgang Borchert's biography - The Life - and analyses of Borchert's poems, short stories and Draußen vor Tür - the works. Dr Burgess also draws on unpublished material, letters and interviews with people who knew Borchert and examines Borchert's work in detail without boring the reader. Very well researched and written. If you can get it at the library I highly recommend it.
