Bane's Choice | Alyssa Day
2 posts | 2 read
Sons of Anarchy meets True Blood in this sexy new series from New York Times bestselling author Alyssa Day. Bane lost his humanity ages ago. Nothing is more important than protecting his Vampire Motorcycle Club from the death magic invading his territory. The most ancient of vampires, he seeks cold, unfeeling, bloody vengeance...until a frustratingly sexy human doctor is thrust into his path. She tempts Bane to distraction. And distraction is deadly in his world. Buttoned-up and meticulous Dr. Ryan St. Cloud never thought she’d find herself in the mix of a motorcycle club, let alone one full of terrifyingly badass vampires. Or how intrigued she is by their dark and enigmatic leader, who seems balanced on the knife’s edge of killing her...or claiming her. But Bane’s choice is harder than it seems, because when that danger hits too close to home, he’s forced to choose between her life and everyone else’s...

I liked this story but I was also conflicted about it. At the start, I was a little lost because I felt like I was missing pertinent background information about the characters or something like that. I also was not a huge fan of Ryan, Bane‘s love interest, she just didn‘t resonate with me. Although, I did like her and Bane together - so the romance was nicely done - buuttt yeah, not a huge fan of the main characters overall.

This is the first book in the Vampire MC series, but it‘s definitely more of a paranormal/magical romance than an MC romance. I enjoyed this book, even though it started a bit confusing since Day throws you into the world she‘s building and expects you to pick it up as you go. I was entertained, love the battle scenes and the secondary characters leave you excited for future books in the series, there was just no chemistry between the two MCs.
