In a near future where all citizens are subject to the mandatory blood draw, government phlebotomist Willa Wallace uncovers the truth about where the blood really goes. To recover from a cataclysmic war, the Harvest was created to pass blood to those affected by radiation. But this charitable act has led to a society segregated entirely by blood type. Patriot thanks and rewards your generous gift based on the compatibility of your donation, meaning that whoever can give to the most, gets the most back. While working as a reaper for the draw, Willa chances upon an idea to resurrect an obsolete collection technique that could rebalance the city. But in her quest to put this in motion, she instead uncovers a secret that threatens her entire foundations... This is a dystopian story unlike any I've read. The 1st half is especially creative. We're given a world decimated by nuclear war, a populace so wasted by apparent radiation sickness that a constant supply of blood is needed from healthy people, a caste system based on blood type, a corporation functioning as the government, &three female protagonists who learn the truth & fight to bring down the bad guys. 2nd half is not as good but still a pick.

Bk3 of yesterday‘s #bookmail is this gorgeous novel. In a dystopian future a mandatory blood draw called The Harvest is instituted to support the war effort. But now society has broken along blood group lines where those with more in demand blood are better treated. Willa works for Patriot as a blood collector but finds out an awful truth about the Harvest & is forced on the run with her grandson Isiah. Sounds very intriguing.

jenniferw88 I'll be avoiding this one then because I'm frightened of needles, even though I have regular 2 monthly blood tests to check my transplant rejection drug dose is correct! 🤣 3y

This book is so amazingly written, so mind-blowing, so incredible thought out that it may be the best thing you read all year. In a dystopian future where blood is needed in large quantities, people are placed in social castes based upon their blood type. Please read this book! So good.
