Giant-Size X-Men by Jonathan Hickman Vol. 1
Giant-Size X-Men by Jonathan Hickman Vol. 1 | Jonathan Hickman
3 posts | 2 read
Superstar writer Jonathan Hickman teams with legendary artists to spin mutant tales too big to be contained in a regular X-Men comic book! When danger looms, it will take two of the most powerful telepaths on Earth working together to make things right - Jean Grey and Emma Frost! Despite the shelter of Krakoa, mutants still need to deal with the human world - but Magneto, the Master of Magnetism, has a plan for that! Nightcrawler must venture into the unknown when the X-Men lose contact with a key mutant habitat! Plus, Fantomex steps into the spotlight - and Storm shows the world why she was once worshipped as a goddess! COLLECTING: GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: JEAN GREY AND EMMA FROST (2020) 1, GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: MAGNETO (2020) 1, GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: NIGHTCRAWLER (2020) 1, GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: STORM (2020) 1, GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: TBD (2020) 1

I stopped off along my morning bike ride to finish GIANT SIZE X-MEN and drink my first-ever flat white, courtesy of a new petsitting client who gave me a Starbucks card at our doggie meet-and-greet. The drink was very tasty indeed (I tried a shot of toffeenut syrup in it), and it was nice to hang out with the X-Men, as always. They were a huge part of my life back when I set out to read every single X-book on Marvel Unlimited, and I miss them.

The first issue is a "silent issue" with no dialogue, which really shows off Dauterman's art and visual storytelling. Hickman likes to do this with his collaborators from time to time.

Pickpick

There‘s this thing that good writers do with Emma Frost, where they show how cool, and smart, and mean she is. Then, when things get bad enough, having her reach out and be genuinely moved. It gives the reader license to moved as well. (It makes me think Summer Bishil, from the Magicians, could play an incredible Emma Frost)
