King's Dragon: Crown of Stars #1 | Kate Elliott
Set in an alternate Europe, a world where bloody conflicts rage and sorcery holds sway, both human and other-than-human forces vie for supremacy. In this land, Alain, a young man seeking the destiny promised him by the Lady of Battles, and Liath, a young woman gifted with a power that can alter the course of history, are about to be swept up in a world-shaking conflict for the survival of humanity. In the New York TImes bestselling tradition of Tad Williams' epic Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series. Beautiful cover art by Jody Lee Over 300,000 copies of Kate Elliott's books in print! The Crown of Stars series is a powerful blend of fantasy and political intrigue

On Friday I passed up a chance to buy the fifth volume of Crown of Stars because I didn‘t actually expect to like the first volume.

On Sunday night, I started the first volume and fell in unexpected love with it.

So back I went today (Monday was a holiday), and dude. Somebody bought the book, even though it‘s vol 5 in a 20+-year-old epic fantasy series without a cult following. 😭

I‘m usually pretty lucky. Not this time. Sigh.

Readergrrl That seems to be the exact thing that happens to me every time I see something I wanted but hesitated to buy. Ugh!!! Hopefully you‘ll find another!! 3y
xicanti @Readergrrl I feel like I see every volume on a regular basis. (I bought the first three ages ago, then decided I should hold off and see how they were.) Now that I want ‘em, I‘ll probably never see one again. 3y

Breakfast involved a leftover scallion pancake and a goodly chunk of KING‘S DRAGON. I don‘t have the best track record with Kate Elliott, but this feels like a book I could love.

I‘m gonna post a book (or series) from my TBR every day until I‘ve shared the lot. No descriptions. No explanations. Just a whole bunch of books I haven‘t read yet.

This is Day 4.

I picked this one up at a used indie in town just thinking it looked like some good epic #fantasy. Since then I got to know who Kate Elliott is on Twitter and now I feel like I found treasure in my attic. So far its everything I want my epic fantasy to be - beautiful, atmospheric, mystical, magical, ancient, lush, enveloping. And its volume one. Huzzah!

Shipping my sister's books across the country, so I'm arranging them by size for ease of packing.
