One of my favorite birthday gifts this year was Valancourt‘s collection of Paperbacks from Hell (guess what I‘ll be reading this year!). The Spirit seemed a good start with its wintry cover. (Although it didn‘t snow, I did finish it by a fire as it rained this afternoon.) Grady Hendrix‘s introduction to this is 👌 and the book itself is a fun, delusional Bigfoot adventure.

“That night he slit the throat of a guerrilla and made a string for a bow from a length of his bowel.”

Pickpick

I am shocked and delighted at how no character managed to accomplish a single thing other than ruining their own lives.

Bigfoot just threw a rattlesnake at a person, if you were wondering how The Spirit was going.

WOW are most of the characters dead by page 24! Looking forward to whatever other dead meat shows up!
