Book 2 (audiobook) of #24b4Monday finished at 10h40. (Also 65 % done with Book 3). I LOVE Louisa May Alcott and her witty observation truly does shine through in this book also balanced by heartfelt and honest accounts of working in a Civil War hospital. I had done good chuckles and almost shed a tear a few times. I think I would have liked better to have read it rather than listened, though.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Now that I have sampled Alcott‘s writing style, I think I may be interested in reading one of her other books, although her most famous work still isn‘t calling out to me. She was an excellent writer with a quirky sense of humor and I am thankful for this particular reading experience.
I read this because of a Traveling Book adventure in a FB group called The Book Drunkard and will now be sending it off to its next destination.
Getting ready to spend the day alone at the hospital while the hubs has hernia surgery. I've got my Kindle all charged, my mini iPod, headphones, an extra phone charger, and a portable charger just in case. If all goes as expected, he should be able to come home tonight. Thoughts and prayers appreciated! 💗
In the format of letters home, a WWII nurse captures the heart of nursing. I work for the nursing department at a hospital (just a CNA for now) and while the medical field has evolved since then, the intention to care for people is still integral.
This short collection of letters expresses so much truth about the heart of nursing. I'm loving it.
