Noah's Compass | Anne Tyler

From Pulitzer Prizewinner Anne Tyler, a wise, gently humorous, and deeply compassionate novel about a retired school teacher forced to re-evaluate his life. Liam Pennywell has never liked teaching at a run-down private school, so when he is forced to retire at sixty-one, it doesnt bother him. But what does is having no memory of an assailant who attacked him on the first night after he moved to his efficient condominium on the outskirts of Baltimore. Hes driven to recover this memory and at the same time recover other moments of his life that he has, over time, forgotten. But he cant do it alone. What he needs is a hired rememberer someone who will do the remembering for him but when he finds Eunice, he gets a whole lot more than he anticipated. Subtle, funny, and populated with characters that are as real as friends, Noahs Compass is an engaging and revealing novel about coming to terms with change, family, love, and memory. From the Hardcover edition.

Just listened to another wonderful novel (my 12th) by Anne Tyler. I love how she makes such mundane characters so relatable and funny with her magical minute details and clever dialogue. And I'm over the moon that Anne's newest book hits the shelves in July: Clock Dance. Woooooo hooooo 😊🙌🏻❤️

LazyDays Thats a great way of looking at her writing I never looked at like that.. I've only read "The Beginners Guid to Goodbye"? her characters are very ordinary. I think that's what I like about her writing also.⭐ 6y
UwannaPublishme @LazyDays Nice to meet another Anne Tyler fan. 😊🙌🏻Every time I read her books, I'm sad when they end because I get so attached to her characters. They feel like my family members. One of my favorites is 6y
