Human Torch by Karl Kesel & Skottie Young: The Complete Collection
Human Torch by Karl Kesel & Skottie Young: The Complete Collection | Karl Kesel

Johnny Storm is the youngest member of the world-famous Fantastic Four, with the powers and temperament of fire itself. Impulsive, restless and thrill-seeking by nature, the Torch doesn't need to wait for the rest of the FF. He can get into trouble all by himself. Years ago, after gaining his powers, Johnny became the most popular student on his high-school campus. The Big Man on Campus until the Torch came along was Olympic-bound wrestler Mike Snow. The Snow/Storm rivalry reached a terrible climax when fighting over a girl. Snow never wanted to see Johnny again - until now, years later, when a fellow firefighter died before his eyes, inexplicably bursting into flames ... like a Human Torch! Pickpick

This was a comic I picked up after reading The Marvel Art of Skottie Young book. Young penciled several issues & did most of the covers—so really, I read it for the art. It‘s early in his career & definitely has a graffiti vibe which I like. His skill is obvious & you can see hints of where his talent is going to take him. I‘m definitely enjoying working through his Marvel work, most of which is new to me. As for the stories? Good not great.

Perfect timing! The last comic I ordered after reading The Marvel Art of Skottie Young arrived today...and just in time too. We have a rainy afternoon ahead of us which is all the excuse I need to say inside and read as we enjoy the last few weeks of summer. Oz, Human Torch, The Three-Body Problem...so much good reading. Bring on the rain!
