Emmalyn Ross never thought a person could feel this alone. Sustaining a marriage with a man who’s not by her side is no easy task, especially since her husband currently resides behind impenetrable prison walls. His actions stole her heart’s desire and gave their relationship a court-mandated five-year time-out. What didn’t fall apart that night fell apart in the intervening years. Now, on a self-imposed exile to Madeline Island—one of the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior—Emmalyn starts rehabbing an old hunting cottage they’d purchased when life made sense. Restoring it may put a roof over her head, but a home needs more than a roof and walls, just as a marriage needs more than vows and a license. With only a handful of months before her husband is released, Emmalyn must figure out if and how they can ever be a couple again. And his silence isn’t helping.

If you can make it to see Cynthia in August 2020, I guarantee you will be blessed! She is a beautiful lady inside and out. I met her in August 2019 at the Fiction Readers Summit. She recommended reading the tagged book. I was not disappointed at all.

Pickpick

I found myself reviewing maps of northern Wisconsin to learn more about Madeline Island and mentally adding it as a destination on my bucket list. Cynthia Ruchti included precious wisdom that encouraged me to fight for my marriage and be more compassionate to those around me who seem different. I appreciated being able to see the characters become self-aware and then take the steps to improve their situation.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cynthia @ The Fiction Readers Summit last weekend. She recommended this book for me as I've never read her books. I followed her advice. Since my son drove me to work today, I had the perfect opportunity to begin this book. Let's just say it is taking a bit of self control not to read it and ignore my work. #aswatersgoneby #CynthiaRuchti #AbingdonPress

Megabooks What a nice sentiment! 5y
