Cataract Surgery: A Guide to Treatment
Cataract Surgery: A Guide to Treatment | Bret L Fisher, Paul E Garland
1 post
Having cataract surgery? Nearly 3 million Americans who have cataracts removed each year. In fact, it's the most commonly performed surgery in the nation. And, the numbers are expected to increase--by the year 2020, nearly 30 million Americans will have cataracts. Even though cataract surgery is a common procedure, you may find yourself feeling anxious about an operation on your eye. Ophthalmologists Paul E. Garland, M.D. and Bret L. Fisher, M.D., have performed thousands of cataract surgeries, and they understand your questions and concerns. They answer questions such as: How long should you wait to have cataract surgery? What type of anesthesia is used? How is the cataract actually removed?

This has not been a good #bookfitnesschallenge week for me. I‘ve only done the book part of the challenge — no fitness and my eating has been off. I had 3 different doctor‘s appointments this week. Next week, I‘ll have the cyst removal procedure, and the week after that, the first of 2 cataract surgeries. Couldn‘t swim because, of all things, I have an ear infection. Then I just got depressed and didn‘t walk either. 😞 #bfcr2 @wanderinglynn

TheEllieMo Sounds like a tough and stressful time for you. I hope the ear infection clears up soon, and good luck with the forthcoming procedures. Don‘t neglect the walking - it‘s been shown to help with depression. 5y
KathyWheeler @TheEllieMo You know, I know from my own experience that walking helps with depression— my walking is one of the reasons I don‘t need medication — I just haven‘t been able to bring myself to do it.😞 Tomorrow, however, I‘m determined, will be different. 5y

wanderinglynn We all have down weeks. It happens. But you‘re doing so well & making such great progress. You can do it! 🙌🏻 Just take one step at a time. Break it up into mini-walks: walk to your mail box, then walk a bit down the street, then a bit further. We‘re with you! 💜 5y
rockpools Kathy, I‘m so sorry - that sounds like a heck of a week. Hope everything goes well with the procedures, and boo to that ear infection! I think we need to swap walking locations tomorrow- your place looks beautiful. Big hugs and here‘s to Thursday 🌷 5y
KathyWheeler @wanderinglynn Thank you so much for your encouragement! 5y
KathyWheeler @RachelO I really is lovely here. I don‘t like to walk inside for that very reason. ❤️ 5y
Megabooks I‘m so sorry Kathy! I‘ve had a bit of an off start to the week myself and hadn‘t left the house until today, and I still haven‘t walked either. Let‘s make a pact to do it tomorrow. Take at least a half mile walk. I think we‘ll both feel better. As for your health problems, I understand. I‘ve had many, many surgeries. They are scary and not fun. I wish I could make yours go away. Hugs! 💙💙 5y
KathyWheeler @Megabooks I love the idea of a pact! I will walk at least a half mile around my neighborhood tomorrow and post about it. I know I‘ll feel better; I always do. They aren‘t big surgeries — I guess everything coming at once is getting to me. I‘ve been in the doctor‘s office more than I‘ve been at work! 5y
Megabooks @KathyWheeler ok!!! I will walk and post as well! 😊😊 5y
cobwebmoth I'm sorry you're having a rough week. *hugs* 5y
Emilymdxn I‘m so sorry to hear all this, that‘s more medical problems than anyone should have all at once. I hope that managing just a few steps will help generate enough motivation for a few more steps and that you manage to walk enough to feel a bit better. No pressure just support, your whole team is here for you 💖 5y
KathyWheeler @Emilymdxn Thank you. One of things I‘ve absolutely loved about Litsy, in general, and this challenge, in particular, is how supportive people are.❤️ 5y
cewilf Oh no! All of that is a lot to deal with all at once. You have the support of all of us! One thing at a time, only do what you can. 💕 The suggestion above to just do a little walking is such a good start! I‘ve been having a hard time getting moving this week too. We can do it! And I hope all of those procedures go well when they come 💜 5y
KathyWheeler @cewilf Thanks! I did get out today and I walked a little. My mood is greatly improved over yesterday! 5y
