Pickpick

On the 20th anniversary of this picture book‘s publication, and the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 flight to the moon, I finally read this delightful traditional #Indigenous story. In the intro, Freda Ahenakew (1932—2011) writes that she first heard this & other Wîsahkecâhk trickster tales from her Cree (Nehiyawak) grandmother. Two things get explained: how the crane got long legs, and how muskeg areas became cursed.
