Pickpick

Damn. Powerful writing, a series of brutal truths and devastating happenings. This is not a pretty story, but the realities of homophobia, of anti-queer violence, of addiction and sobriety, are not pretty. This is, however, a hopeful book. It made me cry silent tears into my dinner, and I had to stop reading a couple of times because the author gets it, and that hurts my heart, that another person has had to deal with relationship trauma. bookishkai This book, these characters (especially Hiro) are going to be with me a long time, and I know I will revisit these books. And these are a must read if you or someone you love has battled addiction, relationship violence/abuse, mental illness, or homophobic violence. 5y

Just finished the “prequel”, Hiroku, which nearly broke me. I fully expect more of the same from this.
