My husband‘s brother bought him a very small plot in Wigtownshire Scotland near Wigtown where they hold a book festival every autumn. In Wigtown there is a secondhand bookshop on every corner. Check this out:

Elizabeth2 This is amazing! Thanks for sharing! Any plans to travel there to see it in person? 2y
EadieB @Elizabeth2 Yes we are going. Had a trip booked last year but had to cancel because of Covid so will probably rebook when we can. 2y
Elizabeth2 So awesome! I can‘t wait for you to go and hear all about it. 2y

EadieB @Elizabeth2 I will have to bring a chair so I can read on our property! 2y
wanderinglynn That‘s so cool! 2y
EadieB @wanderinglynn It was a depressed town in the 90‘s and so they are selling land to build up their economy. It is a great idea! 2y
Crazeedi @EadieB what a cool thing! I'd love to visit the bookshops! And drink tea on your land! Does your brother in law live in Scotland? 2y
EadieB @Crazeedi No he lives in New Jersey but his daughter bought him land so he decided to buy John some land. 2y
Crazeedi @EadieB that is so special 2y
Andrew65 Just been on holiday near Wigtown. @EadieB @Crazeedi @wanderinglynn @elizabeth2 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 Looking forward to visiting there one day! 2y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 wow, cool! You will maybe get to see Eadie some day!! 2y
EadieB @Crazeedi I‘ll have to bring a few more chairs but it could get crowded as my land is only one foot square! lol (edited) 2y
Elizabeth2 @Andrew65 how fun!! 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB We will need to find a way to have a stacking chair tower, could be know locally as Burke Tower. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 At least the town is full of books! 2y
Eggs How awesome 👏🏻 📚🤩 2y
EadieB @Eggs it‘s funny really as the land cost $50 2y
DarkMina That is cool! I had a trip planned to Scotland when COVID happened. Hopefully I will get a change to reschedule and go. (edited) 2y
EadieB @DarkMina I would like to go to one of the islands too. 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I got! $50!!!! 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB And some! 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 So if my husband is a lord then I must be a lady? 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB Most definitely, Lady Eadie! (edited) 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 Did you decide what you are going to do about your job? 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB Back at work fully from today. Now exhausted. Will be handing in my notice later this month, with a finishing date of 1st April. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 Wow! That's a big decision! Do you have any plans for after April? 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB We are going to travel over the Spring and Summer first of all. Then looking at various options including selling second hand books on line or day trading, and possibly some education work, but most probably leaving that career totally. Will have been a principal for almost 20 years by the time I leave so time for a new phase in my life. Not planning to access pension for a few years. I‘m 56 later this month. (edited) 2y
Andrew65 Bonus of day trading is that if we want to can do much of this whilst travelling. Always wanted to become more professional in that area. My successful investing means we can easily survive for a few years before accessing any pensions so no real concerns. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 That's great! I'm really happy for you! Sounds like some good ideas! 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks, we‘ve spent a lot of time over the past 4 weeks discussing it. Really made the decision the day I had to take my wife to A+E, can‘t keep putting us both to this high level of risk. Things we want to do so time to get on and do them before it‘s too late. Will be paying off our mortgage this week, although not that much left on it. Only guilt will be leaving staff, but need to make the decision that is right for us. 2y
Andrew65 COvID means I can‘t do the job in the way I need to do it and it‘s just not the sane. Might as well go to work in a box! Not good for mental health and well being. Will also allow more time for reading. (edited) 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 That would be hard to leave a staff that has been so loyal to you but like you said, you have to do what is right for your family. You will finally get a real chance to enjoy reading your books without the feeling of the weekend will be over soon and I will have to return to work. No clouds hanging over your head and all the stress your job always laid upon you. Free at last! Free at last! lol 2y
Andrew65 Free at last! Lol! 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 I'm sure that when your MP finds out you are leaving, they will offer you the sun, moon and stars to stay as they know that you have given your all to your job. 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks, a lovely thing to say. All I‘ve known so will be very different. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 You shouldn't have any regrets as you are so talented and have such great ideas. I have confidence that you will be a success at whatever you decide to do. (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks :))) 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 I think you should think about writing a book. Maybe about your experiences as a headmaster or an ideas book for other headmasters. (edited) 2y
