I live in a household where roman collars get lost because their owner (not me) uses them almost as often as bookmarks as on their actual collar.

blank Priorities! 5y
GingerAntics Looks like they would make good bookmarks. I wouldn‘t doubt this happens at my Aunt‘s house, too. 5y

tournevis @GingerAntics Most of what he reads is online, but when he has a physical book, don't be surprised that one of those is used if he wore it that week. 5y
GingerAntics I now have a mental image of him reading a book, having to stop, pulling his collar out of his shirt and sticking it into the book. 🤣😂🤣 5y
Lcsmcat I wonder if my brother-in-law ever does this? I‘ll have to ask my sister. 5y
tournevis @GingerAntics It would be a great image, but he takes it out the second he leaves the church or hospital. He truly hates them, thinks they are pretentious. He makes a goos case. 5y
GingerAntics 🤣😂🤣 good thing the mental image was him reading at his desk, a knock at the door and he‘s pulling it out and sticking it in his book as he says “come in.” 🤣😂🤣 5y
GingerAntics I‘m going to have to ask my aunt. 5y
tournevis @GingerAntics Same image, but pulling it out of his shirt pocket! 5y
Lcsmcat @tournevis My sister says no. But he used to hang it on the newel post when he came home and my niece when she was little would nick it and wear it as a crown. And you made my sister laugh! 5y
tournevis @Lcsmcat Oh, so he wears the pre-curved ones! My husband *hates* those. He feels stifled in them. When we went to buy his first clergy shirts, this was a very firm NO! 5y
GingerAntics That‘s almost better. 🤣😂🤣 “this thing is stupid. What‘s the point of this thing? It doesn‘t make me holier or anything. Oh, I need to keep my place in this book.” 5y
GingerAntics My aunt says she wears hers all the time, but she‘s never used it as a bookmark. Hers are about a foot long and they end up curled up. Does your husband wear a different type? Those don‘t seem that long. 5y
tournevis @GingerAntics Exactly, that's it! 5y
tournevis @GingerAntics He only wears the short ones, roughly 6in long. They don't press his neck. 5y
GingerAntics She was just explaining the difference. I was thinking they were about that long. She‘s got the long ones that go all the way around. It seems like it would be weird wearing one of those all day. 5y
tournevis @GingerAntics I would not wear any at all ever, but he says ministers bitch to eachother about these types of things. 5y
GingerAntics My aunt said the people she works with all wear them all the time/everyday. She did say other ministers don‘t because it‘s less formal and more approachable to the “unchurched.” 5y
tournevis @GingerAntics My husband thinks they are mostly for show and not necessary in most cases. He also says that with women ministers, it can make a difference because it conveys authority that current society refuses them. 5y
