I found this book through James Mustich's 1001 Books list. Available on the recorded books app, so I thought, why not?
It's a history of sorts told through the correspondence of Louise d'Epinay and Ferdinando Gailiani, two 18th-century writers, friends of Diderot. She was French, he was Nepalese. They met in Paris and corresponded for 12 years after he went back to Italy. And I quite enjoyed it! I might just like reading other people's letters.
merelybookish The biographer Steegmuller also has a bio of Flaubert that is supposed to be very good. 5y
