The Practical Spinners Guide
The Practical Spinners Guide: Rare Luxury Fibers | Judith MacKenzie
2 posts | 2 read
It's time to look beyond wool, with The Practical Spinner's Guide: Rare Luxury Fibers! The go-to expert for fiber artists, Judith MacKenzie shares insights into working with uncommon (but readily available) luxury downs in this comprehensive, yet practical, guide for today's spinners. With her natural voice for story telling that is both engaging and informative, she discusses the history of each of these downs, how they are used today, characteristics unique to each, and where to find them. She also dives deep into the specific spinning techniques for each fiber, knitting and weaving rare fibers, and dying them once spun. From angora to bison, camel to cashmere, there's a whole world of rare luxury fibers just waiting to be spun!

😯 this is the closest I‘ve ever come to blacking out my #bookspinbingo board! I only came this close because a lot of these were short or quick reads, and I did bail on two. But I‘ve kind of impressed myself! 😁📚

Looking forward to tomorrow‘s number draw for September‘s books.

WJCintron Hi! 😃
How does the bingo works? What do I need to do to start? I would like to see if I can participate in September. Thanks

Hooked_on_books Woohoo! Nice job! 🥳 3y
Soubhiville @WJCintron it‘s run by @TheAromaofBooks . She‘ll be drawing numbers for it today. See her posts for more info, but the first thing you need to do is choose and post a list of books you would like to read in September- 20 of them- and post it with the tag #bookspinbingo and tag @TheAromaofBooks in your post. 3y

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! Fantastic month - look at all those books that are off the list!!! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @WJCintron - Hey there!! If you are interested in joining the BookSpin challenge, I did make a master post with the overview here - https://www.litsy.com/web/post/1989556 - but basically the original challenge is to make a list of 20 books you've been meaning to read. On the 2nd of the month, I draw two numbers (BookSpin/DoubleSpin) & everyone tries to read those numbers from their lists. After I'd been doing it for a while, some people wanted ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) to read more than 2 books from their lists, so I added the Bingo part of the challenge - I also make a bingo board each month that shuffles the numbers around & people score bingos by reading the books from their lists that match those numbers!! You're always welcome to join; it's a monthly challenge so you can jump in any time!! Just let me know if you have any questions. Today is drawing day, so you can also check out my page to see ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) how it works!!! 3y
