pickI really like the use of language - clever to imitate the style of J M Barrie, but with a clever retelling twist.
I probably won't continue with the series as I didn't feel that drawn to Wendy and got a bit fed up of men falling at her feet!
Still enjoyed it though.

pickI liked this twist on Peter Pan. It was fun and the characters were great. I loved Wendy being no nonsense and speaking her mind. I love that she didn‘t let things stand in her way and did as she wanted and needed to even though she was constantly underestimated.
I wish my library had the second book available on Libby.
Starting this one today, lately I've had a love for reading Peter Pan/ Neverland retellings!

This is the best kind of retelling, that takes everything you thought you knew and turns it on its head. Everyone you know & love(or loathe) is here but thats where the familiarity ends. Wendy Darling has enlisted to defend England against the greatest threat, magic. Along w her brothers in arms John and Michael, and her faithful dog Nana, she is tasked to watch for the Everlost, who steal children in the night.
Audiobooks were a difficult sell for me, but thankfully 4 or 5 years ago I got over my preconceived notions. Now they help fill out my reading life. Between odd jobs, life, & more jobs audiobooks are necessary for making the tasks easier & less of a "hey you're robbing me of precious reading time" feels. Multitasking for the win, especially for jobs that require 5 AM wake up & work lifestyle! I can't believe I hung out laundry today #24in48 ?⬇️.

pickI enjoy a good retelling of a classic, but they can all to often reshape without adding anything of value to the story or characters. That is not the case with The Wendy. The storyline was intriguing and different enough to make me curious without taking anything away from the original tale. The Wendy herself is actually far preferable to me to the original, who does not love a strong female protagonist? Looking forward to the sequel!
