Pickpick

Read this one over a week ago and forgot to post about it.
I was surprised by how intense the story was. I figured it the subject matter would have been toned down a ton for younger readers, but we still ended up getting the serious weight of that battle. It was a great book.

➡ My friend recommended this book to me.
➡This book is about an 11 year old boy named Paul Comber who is living in France 1944 which at the time, is taken over by the "Nazis" As Paul goes out to buy cookies, he meets someone from the resistance and figures out his mother is a part of it too. Later Paul and his allies disable deadly weapons eventually letting the "allies" win the war.

This HF chapter book written by Lauren Tarshis takes place during WWII. This young boys village is taken over by Nazi‘s and his Jewish best friend has disappeared. Read the story to find out what he does and what his village goes through.
This would be an excellent novel for IR for your students. Once they start the book they won‘t want to put it down!

DezireeLara For the students who don‘t want to read the actual book they can listen to the audio version! https://www.audible.com/author/Lauren-Tarshis/B001JRRKRE 5y
Macker11 I think these books are a great way to get kids interested in history! They have an intriguing way to express the historical event and make it interesting for kids. The students read it as a chapter book and they don‘t even realize they are actually learning! definitely a good read! 5y
DrSpalding I really like the idea of audiobooks. Excellent to include this link. I agree, third, fourth and possibly lower level fifth graders will enjoy this series and hopefully not want to put it down. 5y

In honor of D-Day I listened to these two audiobooks today. I'm thankful for all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
