Well…reading off #mountTBR didn‘t go so well this year, and neither did trying not to buy so many books. 🤦‍♀️

I read 200 books in 2022, of which only 39 were books I already owned at the beginning of the year.

And I added 195 books in the year 😱. Of these, 46 were from NetGalley, 43 Kindle books, 41 were gifts and 30 I bought from physical bookshops.

MountTBR has gone from 347 books at the start of 2022, to 436 books today. 🤪

jhod I think its a win that your lowest number of gains were physical books you bought yourself, i dont think the rest count - well done! 😘 1y
AmyG You read 200 books! I only dream about that. Sounds like a big win to me. 1y
Deblovestoread I love this so much! It validates me in the best possible way 😂 1y

squirrelbrain That‘s a great way of looking at it Jess @jhod - thank you! 😝 1y
LeahBergen It sounds impressive to me! 1y
TrishB Missing the spreadsheet 😁 agree with Jess and also we will need all the tbr books when we retire! 1y
Amiable I need to get better at clearing my physical shelves and slowing down the number of books I bring into the house. Or at least those *sound* like the words that periodically come out of my husband‘s mouth … 🤷🏻‍♀️ 1y
wanderinglynn An awesome reading year! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1y
Megabooks Fantastic year! I love that you‘re so good at stats and spreadsheets. 🫶🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1y
AnneCecilie It‘s hard to read from your own shelves when there‘s always something newer and shiner out. I need to look at my numbers too, hopefully tomorrow. I know I bought way more books than you this year. 30 isn‘t so bad. 1y
Hooked_on_books It took me a few years to try to figure out a system to get my unread books read and reduce more than I gained. But I figured one out that works for me and it‘s been quite effective for a couple years! I only focus on reducing my physical books, as I have historically had a much larger problem with acquiring those than other formats. 1y
squirrelbrain My bigger problem has always been with 99p Kindle books @Hooked_on_books , but more recently it‘s #netgalley and physical books. (A few years ago I would *never* have bought hardback books). Still, there‘s worse things to be ‘addicted‘ to. 🤣 1y
squirrelbrain That‘s the issue isn‘t it? @AnneCecilie - we‘re like magpies when it comes to new, shiny books! 1y
batsy 200 books read is all I'm able to focus on! 😁 Well done! Here's to an amazing reading year in 2023 📖💕 1y
Caroline2 Yes! I started so well then it all went to pot around summer/autumn! I‘m particularly bad with 99p kindle deals. Must ease up in them this year. 😬 (Although I just ordered Sorrow in hardback - I read it on my kindle but it‘s so good, I need a physical copy!! 😆) 1y
Hooked_on_books Yes! That‘s what I‘ve always said. My mom exclusively uses the library and doesn‘t understand my book buying addiction at all. I tell her at least I‘m not addicted to crack! 😂 1y
