This is book 18 in the series and the first one I've read but I didn't need to read the others to understand this story. I do want to read more though after reading this one. The plot was interesting and I didn't figure out the murderer until the very end. The ending was very good and finished the story perfectly. I would have liked a better resolution with Megan though. A great whodunit.

I read very few books that would be considered “cozy mysteries”. I received an Advance Readers Copy (ARC) from NetGalley.com and wanted to give this one a try since I was in the mood for something light, clever and witty. I‘m pleased to report that my mission was 100% successful. This book reminded me of a modern-day Agatha Christie novel. I will definitely be checking out this author‘s back list.

rretzler Simon Brett has several series which are good. I like Fethering the best, and then Charles Paris and Mrs Pargeter are tied (I haven‘t read as many of them). His most recently started series is Blotto & Twinks. It is not nearly as good as the others, but it you are ever looking for a light and frivolous mystery , the series would definitely qualify!😄 5y
suvata @rretzler This was the first book I ever read by him. I really loved his conversational tone and his cleverness. Definitely going to be a go-to for me. 5y
rretzler I don‘t necessarily consider him a cozy mystery writer! 😂 Years ago, I would have, but the term “cozy mystery” seems (to me at least) to have been changed into silly mysteries that are solved by bakers, caterers, cats, tea shop owners, ghosts, psychics, and other assorted people who have nothing at all to do with the murder. 🤣 Brett‘s books seem to rise above that even though most of his characters have nothing to do with murder either! 5y
