Waiting for the Man
Waiting for the Man: The Life and Career of Lou Reed | Jeremy Reed
1 post
In Waiting For The Man, Jeremy Reed focuses on Lou Reed as rock's principal literary avatar, paying special attention to his controversial lyrics and prototypical garage sound. Lou Reed influenced generations of copyists that took note of his outlaw status, ambiguous sexual orientation characterized by his seventies relationship with the transvestite Rachel, his implacable mystique, cool and defiant attitude as the narrator of subcultures. Finally the book examines the transcendent, if reluctant calm, that Reed arrived at in later life.

#MarchIntoThe70s #Day23 #WalkOnTheWildSide Lou Reed was an enigma. One of the “characters” in music, he had a life that was on the wild side quite a bit. From his beginning in The Velvet Underground, one of Andy Warhol‘s beautiful people, through to his sexual ambiguity, hard living & his defiant attitude,he had a mystique that few other artists manage. He also managed to write some of the best songs from the 70s like Wild Side & Perfect Day. RIP🖤
