La Llorona, the Weeping Woman: An Hispanic Legend Told in Spanish and English | 
pickI grew up near the Mexican border in Texas, and this is a traditional ghost story told around campfires and at sleepovers. It is pretty disturbing, but it is meant to be so. I hadn‘t ever read a written version of it, and while there are always variations to legends that are usually told orally, this one is pretty much the one I remember. The art is appropriate to the story, morphing from quite normal to creepy and evocative.
