* Off-kilter fun for those who like their picture books (and salsa) zesty and fresh.Publishers Weekly, starred review Dragons love tacos. They love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. So if you want to lure a bunch of dragons to your party, you should definitely serve tacos. Buckets and buckets of tacos. Unfortunately, where there are tacos, there is also salsa. And if a dragon accidentally eats spicy salsa . . . oh, boy. You're in red-hot trouble. The award-winning team behind Those Darn Squirrels! has created an unforgettable, laugh-until-salsa-comes-out-of-your-nose tale of new friends and the perfect snack.

@ImperfectCJ

ImperfectCJ Tacos in a bag... that's a new one for me! Just a mini bag of chips with taco toppings? 3y
DinoMom @ImperfectCJ yup, Doritos are the best for it. Cut open the bag, add your toppings. I add warm topping first and and let them melt a little be holding over fire or stove top and then add you veggies. 3y

Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin. Funny LF book! Very interesting and would definitely get students interested. #UCFLAE3414SP21 Winner of the Young Readers Choice Award! This site has great games and activities related to the book. https://www.nbp.org/ic/nbp/programs/gep/dragon/ge_dragonmain.html

ReaganT The activity aligns with UDL principle 1.1 Offer ways of customizing the display of information. It also aligns with ESOL strategy 15- Reinforce the key ideas you present again and again because there is a lot of repetition in the book. 3y
ToddSalerno So now that we heard this book in Storytelling, I can say this book is adorable and a fantastic RA or S example. The resource you made available would be perfect to create your own storytelling props! I sat there imagining the possibilities with this story, particularly with realia. Thanks for the share! 3y

Who would have guessed? Dragons Love Parties…. Dragons Love Tacos…Dragons Hate Spicy Salsa! Unfortunately, an oversight resulted in spicy salsa being given to the dragons and the building being burnt down! Young ones will love the silly nature and cute drawings of the dragons.

TabathaA This MF award-winning (New York Times Best Seller, Young Readers Choice Award, New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association Award) book can be presented as an IR, utilizing UDL 2.1 (clarify vocabulary and symbols) by presenting vocabulary cards or hand out with pictures, and EL 20 (list the most important words and phrases you use or plan to use in a presentation on a transparency or on the chalkboard). 3y

Dragons Love Tacos is an award-winning MF picture book by Adam Rubin with fun illustrations by Daniel Salmieri. Bottom line: Dragons may love tacos, but they HATE spicy salsa. If you host a taco party for dragons and serve spicy salsa, well… you‘ll see! This would be a hysterical RA perfect for extension activities for ELA and art integration. Great ideas here:
https://deannajump.com/dragons-love-tacos-reading-lesson-ideas/
#ucflae3414su20

nquintus Dragons Love Tacos is written in a very expressive manner, so it is crucial that an RA have that expression in both tone and body language. This would be especially helpful with beginner ELs in your class, as this would meet ESOL guideline 17: provide contextual support through visuals, demonstrations, body language, and facial expressions. This RA also meets UDL 1.2 and 1.3 regarding the provision of alternatives for auditory and visual info. 4y
Nkaufmann Wow, your resource was amazing! It was packed with tons of ways teachers can use this book in the classroom. I liked how it talked teaching students about authors purpose through interactive writing. This will help them think critically about why the author wrote this book. Great job as always! 4y
Viviannef I used to read this book to my Afterschool Kiddos all the time! They loved it! So funny, especially when you put in that expression as you stated! Your ESOL strategy aligns perfect with this book and I agree with Naomi ^; Thank you so much for the resource, it has amazing ideas to use this book in the classroom! 4y
marissamaddox This book is such a hit with young kids, I have two nieces and they absolutely love it! I agree that a RA would be amazing with the right tone and body language. The UDL principles you select seem to work really well for this book! Good job! 4y
DrSpalding This book has been or still is on the New York Times bestseller‘s list. It was there for a very long time if it is no longer present. Read aloud for sure and I love the image with the Cholula sauce. That is a staple in our household. You have found excellent resources to accompany your books. There are so many ways to use great books in your future classroom. Just do it. 4y

This F book is so sweet. It is about dragons and how much they love tacos but it is important to not give them any spicy salsa. If the dragons have any spicy salsa they shoot sparkles and smoke comes out of their ears. I think this book would be a great reenactment within the class for students to demonstrate. This book won the Young Readers Choice Award.

LizzettM The UDL Principle I would choose is (7.3) minimize threats and distractions so student can enjoy reenacting the story. The EL strategy 15, going over key ideas so it will be simpler to understand.

I love this shirt on Shirt Punch!! I will have a lot more time to window shop online since I was laid off today. My previous company decided instead of closing down they would lay off everyone but 4 people to run the whole 20+ people office, makes a lot of sense to me too. I‘m very fortunate however to have my husbands job that will cover our bills and is such a large company there is no threat of layoffs or shut downs. Yay for more reading time!

Dragons Love Tacos, written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri is a funny MF book. It‘s a New York Times bestseller! It would be great for S or IR. Dragons LOVE tacos, who doesn‘t? But remember....if you don‘t keep the toppings mild you‘re in for some red-hot trouble! Storytelling this book would be fun for students, after you could even have a taco class party! Such as, making a 3-D dragon, making tacos, singing dragons love tacos, playing charades, and tips for reading aloud! http://www.nbp.org/ic/nbp/programs/gep/dragon/ge_dragonmain.html I think this book could bring the whole school or community together by having one big taco party! UDL principle to fit that would be 8.3 (foster collaboration and community). Storytelling this book would cover 1.1 (offer ways of customizing the 5y
