Naïve. Super | Erlend Loe
9 posts | 27 read | 10 to read
Troubled by an inability to find any meaning in his life, the 25-year-old narrator of this deceptively simple novel quits university and eventually arrives at his brother's New York apartment. In a bid to discover what life is all about, he writes lists. He becomes obsessed by time and whether it actually matters. He faxes his meteorologist friend. He endlessly bounces a ball against the wall. He befriends a small boy who lives next door. He yearns to get to the bottom of life and how best to live it. Funny, friendly, enigmatic and frequently poignant - superbly naive.

I don't really know how to describe this book, but I enjoyed reading it. It wasn't stream of consciousness, but it sort of felt that way. It was a quick read, and I'm glad I picked it for #FoodAndLit #Norway. I'll be cooking the pictured food later in the month: sodd (meat soup) and lefse (flatbread). @Butterfinger @Texreader

Texreader Can‘t wait to hear what you think of the food! Thanks for posting! 3y

I loved this novel. The simplicity in tone and language are a great reflection of the narrators need to simplify his life. 9/10

Just not sure about this one. I get the point of it, but I didn‘t really connect with it. Mostly the m/c reminded me of a cross between the kid from perks of being a wallflower and catcher in the rye (I know.. that‘s weird.) I liked the ending enough, but was hoping for more.

zezeki I've read Erlend Loe's Doppler and it was one of the funniest ,as well as insightful, books I've ever read. 5y

cassareada Same with #20. I joined because I wanted an easy way to track how many books I've read. I adore it here 💜 5y
Cweeeevs @cassiopia it's really wonderful 😄 5y
WhatThePuck #15, I had a problem too. My friend and I decided together to support each other while we learned new ways to 'apologize' without saying 'I'm sorry.' 5y
