It‘s cloudy but blessedly cool. Enjoying a mid morning coffee and a book. I am enjoying this Victorian murder mystery. The author‘s descriptions of London are vivid, especially her scenes set in the slums of London. She captures the misery of the peoples lives, especially the women‘. #coffeeandbooks #VictorianEngland ☕️📚#July #20in4 #readathon #porchlife

Finished the first in series by Emily Organ, Limelight, today(read 50% to end). Starting 2nd in series, The Rookery. Plan to read sections of the other books, and leaving myself open to something that may strike my mood.??

Mehso-so

This is my August #BookSpin, second in series. I read the first for my May #BookSpin. 🤣
This one was just OK for me. I wasn‘t bowled over by the first, and I‘m feeling the same about this one. It involves a series of murders around St. Giles‘ Rookery in London (1884). While the plot was fine (although a bit slow in spots and the denouement was a bit sketchy), I found the writing a little stilted and didn‘t connect well with the characters. ⬇️

robinb I don‘t think I have enough interest to continue on here. 3.5/5⭐️

TheAromaofBooks Sometimes I'm willing to give an author a second chance if I don't like the first book, because it can take a book to get into the groove, but if I feel pretty meh about two in a row... it's just probably not for me! 4y
