November Rain
November Rain: A Carl Houseman Mystery | Donald Harstad
7 posts | 1 read
Carl Houseman, the deputy sheriff of rural Nation County, Iowa, leaves home to enter the world of international intrigue in the sixth in Donald Harstad's critically acclaimed series. Houseman's daughter, Jane, has been studying abroad in the UK. When her best friend Emma Schiller has been kidnapped, Houseman, desperate to protect his daughter and help her friend, accepts Scotland Yards invitation to take him on as a consultant. Emmas trail leads to the door of her former professor--and ex-lover--Dr. Robert Northwood, whose impassioned activism on behalf of a pair of Muslim political prisoners has landed him unwittingly in cahoots with a cadre of dangerous individuals. It seems like a simple hoax, except that if Houseman doesn't track down the professors co-conspirators, the consequences will be anything but simple--and the harm that will result could be global in Harstad's gripping new installment in his outstanding series.

A little late, but I read 15 books in November! 4 of which were #NetGalley ARC‘s - so I‘m getting better with those! None of which were a bad read!

An apt title, as it‘s been mostly gray and drizzly here today.

November was a tough reading month for me, with two weekends of gigs and another of errands catch-up, then Thanksgiving and today making hubby‘s birthday cake for tomorrow.

Still, I managed 21 books, 8 of which were NF, and 4394 pages. So, respectable enough. And onward into December and the marathon through the holidays!

1. Haven‘t read it but it came up pretty quick in my search
2. Hm…worked from home Tuesday and missed all the terrible, icy road conditions for the drive home
3. Sleep. I am so exhausted I definitely won‘t be staying up super late. Hopefully I can write some before I pass out 😂
4. 3 (one is ~ 2 years older than me)
5. Will do

November wrap up (minus 2 that I couldn‘t fit in the grid). 22 books total, the bigger the cover, the more I liked it! #novemberwrapup

1. Finish #ReadHarder challenge. I‘m almost there!
2. Not really. Just occasional rambling on LJ.
3. After next week we‘re done with all the “heavy lifting” for a while at work.
