The study abroad office at the college where I work recommends Rick Steve‘s‘ guides to all our students. This is a travel skills guide for #Europe and I‘m sure it‘s got great information. #ReallyRandomFebruary

I really enjoyed reading about the different countries and their customs. This is definitely a good travel companion to have with you on a trip to Europe. Some countries that stood out to me that I found interesting (they all were really) were: Slovenia, Greece, Spain, and Switzerland.

lahousewyfe I love Rick Steves. He's so earnest and such a travel nerd! Have you seen his special about the rise of fascism before WWII? So revelatory for me, and so accessible. 5y
Rachbb3 @lahousewyfe I haven't seen it, I bet it's very good. Love Rick Steves! 5y
Cinfhen Nice choice!! I love travel nerds 🙊 5y

Finally starting this one!! My husband and I are traveling to Germany, Switzerland and Italy for our honeymoon in May. 🇩🇪 🇨🇭 🇮🇹 I would like to go to some unique local bookstores in our travels - does anyone have any tips of ones they‘ve been to?? 🤔

LiteraryinLawrence I have nothing productive to contribute except THIS SOUNDS AMAZING and HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME! 5y
kstadt929 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you @LiteraryinLititz !! I can‘t wait! 5y
kstadt929 @Jess7 Did you happen to go to any in Rome? Or any other places? 5y
Jess7 Yes, I went to a few in Rome! I‘ll look them up from my notes and get back to you. One off the top of my head was called The Almost Corner Bookstore. The man that owns/runs it is very quirky! Definitely recommend it. 5y
kstadt929 @Jess7 Thank you!! ☺️ 5y

Europe's coolest castles according to Rick Steves. 😊

Carcassonne
Warwick
Burg Eltz
Rheinfels
Chateau de Chillon
Reifenstein
Moorish Ruins of Sintra
King's Castle
Greenberg Ruins
Towering Eltz
Neuschwanstein

#Booked2019

JamieArc Carcassonne is one of my favorite places! 5y
Emilymdxn I only know English castles well but I‘d recommend Arundel over Warwick any day of the week... that‘s just me tho! 5y

How to Navigate a UK Roundabout. 😂 A section in this book. Is it that scary?
#Booked2019

GingerAntics I‘ve never thought so, but people (especially Americans) seem to have major problems with the concept. It‘s kind of sad. They‘re easier than stop lights and keep traffic flowing. We got one here in TX at one point and even with signs explaining the process, it wasn‘t uncommon for people to go the wrong way. 🙄 5y
MommyOfTwo We have some in our town and I‘ve never had a problem with them 🤷‍♀️ 5y
Rachbb3 @GingerAntics I'd say if it's hard to understand in your own country, don't even try in a different one. Lol. 5y

Rachbb3 @MommyOfTwo We have them where I live too, maybe it's the driving on the other side of the road that's tricky. 5y
GingerAntics I think it‘s just that people don‘t pay attention or don‘t want to deal with it. I wouldn‘t be surprised if laziness is a huge part of it. I don‘t have problems with them. They are very logical. I still don‘t think I‘d want to try them on the other side of the road until I‘m more comfortable with the whole driving on the other side of the road thing in general. lol 5y
xicanti I was scared to use a roundabout for the first time earlier this year, but they actually made intersections a lot easier! Now I'm a big fan. 5y
OrangeMooseReads We have those in Michigan and I HATE them mostly because people are impatient and don‘t pay attention or yield properly. 5y
Slajaunie My state, Louisiana, has had them for years. Some areas are still building more. They are easy. 5y
rubyslippersreads We call them traffic circles here. I hate them; my BFF loves them. 😏 5y
TheWordJar We have them all over here, and I love them! Not really difficult at all. 5y
JillR I had no idea roundabouts weren‘t a thing everywhere! (I‘m U.K.) 5y
kezzlou85 Ah roundabouts they're everywhere in the UK. People still don't follow the rules on them though especially mini ones. 5y
Birdsong28 😂😂😂😂 So true 📚📖 5y

Traveling to Europe with just a carry-on bag? I can't do it Rick Steves, I just can't. Unless you can procure me Mary Poppins bag. 😒

#Booked2019

BarbaraJean It can be done—I did it in October! I just had to be okay with the fact that in all of the pictures from the trip, I‘m wearing a rotation of basically the same three sweaters. 😏It does limit the book-buying that can be accomplished, though... 5y
Rachbb3 @BarbaraJean Lol. It would take some serious Tetris packing for me. 5y
Hestapleton I‘ve done it twice! I went in the summer, which helped cause tank tops are small, but yeah you just gotta be okay with your shorts being a little sweaty lol 5y

TrishB Nope. I never travel lightly! 5y
Laura317 It can be done! If you are on Facebook, check out Travel Fashion Girl - she has a huge following all over and gives wonderful tips to lots more than fashion. 5y
Jas16 That is actually what I do when I travel which always seems to shock people. 5y
BookNAround I travel with just a carryon and it‘s usually half empty so I can bring home all of the books you can‘t get in the US. Of course, my mother claims I‘d go naked rather than give up book space (and she might just be right). 5y
