No slow immersion here! You're thrown directly into a strange far future and left to pick up hints as you go. I have only been reading a couple pages while waiting for my son's bus so I'm only 30 pages in but whoa, there's a lot to take in! Evidently mankind miniaturized and retreated to a life of leisure behind a barrier and left the world outside to biologically altered animal-men. About 3000 years later one man returns to full size to explore
