Pickpick

I enjoyed this coming of age novel about a Jewish teen struggling to reconcile his homosexuality with his faith & trying to be yeled tov-a good Jewish boy. Honest, poignant & a bit humorous, it won't be for everyone as the sexual situations are graphic-although it's not gratuitous & serves to illustrate his conflicted feelings. With Matzo Brei with Strawberry Jam-a sweet take on a Jewish comfort food. Link to my full book tour review & recipe👇🏻

alisiakae Matzo brei!! I remember the first time I ever made it, when hubby and I were still dating, it turned out so bland and flavorless. Took me a while to figure out this Jewish dish, but now it is a Passover favorite in our house (both sweet and savory!) 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I used to order savory matzo brei at my fav Jewish deli. Miss it—my city doesn‘t have any decent delis. 6y

It's not the same as my favorite neighborhood coffee shop & cafe but I was called a "regular" today by the barista at the Starbucks closest to work. I've been leaving early to beat the traffic & hanging out here for 45 min or so before parking & meeting my shuttle group to our office. (We are parking space challenged.)?But a good way to ease into the morning. With my current read, an #ARC for a Friday blog book tour review. Have a good Tuesday.?

Taking time to treat myself to breakfast at my favorite coffeeshop--a dirty chai latte with almond milk & deviled avocado with jalapeño ulu hummus in the middle of my Saturday errands. Starting this novel for a book tour review at the end of the week. I took it because the subject--a young Jewish boy reconciling his homosexuality & his faith in 1974--is different from what I have been reading lately. #diversebooks
