Memories Are an Old Man's Toys
Memories Are an Old Man's Toys: Sometimes Our Greatest Gifts Aren't What We Leave Behind But Rather What We Take with Us | Elayne Tulliani
1 post | 1 read
When our mortality is dancing on the horizon, our thoughts have the tendency to drift to the type of legacy we will leave behind. Some will leave wealthy estates while others will leave voids in the hearts of those who loved them. Billy will leave a little of both but neither will be his legacy. You see, it will be what Billy chooses to take with him rather then what he leaves behind that will define him as a man. EXCERPT I originally planned to time the launch of my software within the next twelve months because I wanted to witness the chaos. I know, I know this all sounds so vengeful but that was how I was feeling. Then after reading my mom's writing I asked myself what my real motivation was if I were to remove revenge from the equation. I still wanted to teach people a lesson but I decided it didn't have to be a lesson born of rage. Once I weeded through all of the hurt feelings, fears and resentment I was left with one common denominator. With the exception of my parents I grew up feeling ignored and dismissed. With that I realized that I had the ability, if only for a short period of time, to remove the platform that too often isolates us. I guess I simply want the world to slow down for a moment, look up from their devices and see the beauty that surrounds them. I want the moms to put down the phone and push their child on a swing. I want the dads to put down their phones and just throw a ball to their kids.

I liked this book a lot, you could really connect to what Billy was feeling. The reason I gave only 4 stars was because the book was quite slow and I got bored a lot through out the book.

Mrs_Organized_Chaos Oh yay! I have this on my list to read soon.... 6y
