Return to the immersive, action-packed world of Warcross in this thrilling sequel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu Emika Chen barely made it out of the Warcross Championships alive. Now that she knows the truth behind Hideo's new NeuroLink algorithm, she can no longer trust the one person she's always looked up to, who she once thought was on her side. Determined to put a stop to Hideo's grim plans, Emika and the Phoenix Riders band together, only to find a new threat lurking on the neon-lit streets of Tokyo. Someone's put a bounty on Emika's head, and her sole chance for survival lies with Zero and the Blackcoats, his ruthless crew. But Emika soon learns that Zero isn't all that he seems--and his protection comes at a price. Caught in a web of betrayal, with the future of free will at risk, just how far will Emika go to take down the man she loves? In this explosive sequel to the New York Times bestselling Warcross, Marie Lu delivers an addictive finale that will hold you captive till the very last page.

Just finished this. I liked the first one a bit more but I still thought this was a good sequel. We finally get answers about what happened to Sasuke and it‘s just so heartbreaking.

4/5 for the second in this duology. All the twists in this book!!! It was so good. I cannot believe I waited so long to finish this duology. I loved reading about Emika again. She is such a great character. I recommend this.

Amazing book. Lots of plot twists (which I love) and just an epic thriller in general. I recommend you read Warcross and Wildcard both; they are definitely some of the best books I have read so far.

I can‘t say I enjoyed WILDCARD as much as WARCROSS, but this is still a great read. Marie Lu knows how to write a great page-turner. The action drags just a bit more in this second book, though. Lu also leans into the melodrama a little heavy from the start, and it‘s been a while since I read the first book, so it was a bit much. I also felt the big showdown at the Warcross closing ceremony and fight in Zero‘s mind dragged in places.

My #TBRBingo card number 2. Just focusing on truly smashing my Edelweiss tbr backlist. Maybe I'll learn not to download books on Edelweiss like a greedy player in a game of bookish Hungry, Hungry Hippos? More cards to come!

Moonprismpower Now I want to play Hungry Hungry Hippos. It‘s really the only game where you can be aggressive and still have fun! Besides Rockem‘ Sockem‘ Robots. 3y

This never happens, but I actually liked this one more than the first! I loved that right when you thought you knew what was going to happen, it changed. It always kept me on my feet and guessing! And I ended up falling in love with the romance, I wish their would have been a bit more of that at the end. I felt I had a better idea what and how the virtual reality worked. There was only 1 game, but it was soo good! 5 stars!

I have never been more thankful for a library card and access online. I also read this book in about 2 days. I couldn‘t get enough of it. I love sci-fi. So. Much. Perfect end to this series and proof that power can corrupt even the best of intentions. #Wildcard

My October wrap up for this month❤
All the books I read were pretty good, but my favourites were House of salt and sorrows or Wildcard.

Almost as amazing as the first book, I absolutely love the Warcross world, the virtual reality and gaming side of it. Emika continues to be such a cool character, and tries to do the right things rather than what's nicest. The plot continued to be pretty fast paced but some was irrelevant and some chapters did drag. More twists than the first, but overall such a good ending to an awesome duology! May be one of the best series I've read this year💙

I lurrrved Warcross. This was just ok for me. No actual Warcross games and lots of outrageous predicaments that get more confusing as the book goes on. That‘s not going to stop me from trying more from this author though.

TerriGreen Nathan thought the same! Loved the first and was meh about this one. 4y

I loved these books, listened on audio, the narration was excellent. It was just enough dystopian/futuristic to be fun but not so much to be too “current” (eg no plagues wiping out humanity thankfully and no politics really). AI comes into this book and the perils and plus sides of technology. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1. Ideal dystopian - Firstly, I wouldn't want to live in a dystopian world because it would be after a devastating event that destroyed our government. But if I was to choose, Kiefer Sutherland would be my president and we would all participate in virtual games like in Marie Lu's books.

Wildcard the part 2 to Warcross is a amazing book! All things seem to take a twist you didn‘t see coming, I just finished this awhile ago, but I don‘t want to spoiler both books I rate this 9/10.

I could not finish Ready Player One. It was too blasphemous. Wildcard is the sequel to War Cross. These books are about a virtual game. These books are fantastic and much better, in my opinion, than that other one.

The ending is amazing and I really would like to talk about it to someone. Maybe I will bribe my 17 year old to read it.

1. YA. I love it all. I'm currently reading Marie Lu.

2. I'm an 80s girl so Star Wars, ET, Goonies

3. Friends

4. Knitting. The more I see of @Lindy I wanted to get started again. The thing that holds me back is that it became a job when I did it two years ago to raise some money. It stopped being relaxing. I love to hike.

Mitch Good film choices! 4y
Lindy I can understand how it being a job would take away the joy of knitting. I won‘t even take requests for making things for people. Too much pressure. Well, my sweetie wants a cardigan so I got wool for that. But first I‘m going to dye it: I plan to get maximum creative pleasure out of the project. 4y
Butterfinger @Lindy I think if I just keep it to baby afghans I'll be ok. I love knitting for babies. 4y

Wildcard isn‘t my favorite book by Marie Lu (I‘m biased toward the Legend series), but it‘s still good! It‘s a pretty decent sequel that captures all of Marie Lu‘s incredible storytelling skills. This book, and its predecessor Wildcard, are worth reading!

Wildcard was super scary like a lot of action, very fast paced, I personally liked the first book better, I can‘t say too much as it is a sequel, and it would spoil a lot of the first book, but this prequel definitely kept me worried about every character and fear of them being in harms way, the genre of this book is Science Fiction, if you liked Warcross and like super fast paced action books Wildcard is a must read and will satisfy. #3

Cfischbuch I agree the first book was better - easier to follow. 4y

I was not as big of a fan of the second in this duology. I felt it was pretty inconsistent and plot holey, and I ended up not really rooting for some of the "good guys" by the end, due to their questionable moral ambiguity. But I loved Emika and the world was still cool so I'm glad I finished it.

My buddy read of Wildcard with @jmtrivera was a lot of fun! It was actually a bit darker than I was expecting, and a couple of plot points surprised me, which was cool. I‘m still not sure if I‘m complete sold on the ending, but I don‘t want to give any spoilers, so I‘ll leave it at that.

Every problem has a solution. But after every solution, there's a new problem to tackle, some new challenge to take on. You don't stop after you solve one thing. You keep going, you find a new way and a new path, try to do better and create better. Tearing something down isn't the end; doing something great, or better, something right, is.

jmtrivera Or maybe there isn't such a thing as an end goal at all. You accomplish something, and then you shift, ready to accomplish the next. You keep solving one problem after another until you change the world. 5y

I definitely liked this in a different way from Warcross. In this one, it was like things had already fallen apart, & I was trying to figure out, along with Emi, what the process for putting things back together would look like. I liked how that road went, mainly because I really liked Emi's relationships w/the people around her. Relationships are the best part of this book, & Lu makes them really meaningful. I had a really good time reading this!

Unlike Warcross, there wasn't a months long waiting list. Now I know why. While I couldn't put Warcross down, Wild Card dragged on. Sure there was more action. But I really wanted to more about Zero, and why he was out to get Hideko. Was hoping there would be more complications in regards to Emika/Hideko.

Still, satisfactory dystopian fiction.
