I have been remiss. Le Combat national des livres (i.e. Canada Reads for French) is this week.

Eliminated: Pour sûr by France Daigle (Acadia), an experimental novel I liked, and Pauvres petits chagrins by Mariam Teows (West), a translation I've not read.

Left are:
De Synthèse, Karoline Georges (QC), which has won everything with reason.
Sans capote ni kalashnikov, Blaise Ndala (ON).
Manikanetish by Naomi Fontaine (Indigenous territories).

Congrès Boréal has other prizes. I'm pleased to see that Karoline Georges won the other major SFF prize this year for De synthèse. Yé!

Hey, my room has a balcony (just noticed). Here is the Centre-ville de Montréal! I'll be heading out soon and should have a view of the mountain on the way. Boréal, here I come.

Industrial landscape of Montréal. Good morning! I did not do much last nght. I stayed in bed. Today, Boréal: two round tables, talking to friends and whatever else I feel able to do.

Made it to Montréal. Slept the whole way. Now t make my way to my hotel and then, depending on the time and how I feel, go to the grocery store and to check if the old used bookstore near by still exists. If I still feel well, perhaps go to the evening session of Boréal.
