The Railway Children
The Railway Children | Harriet Castor

A new chance to follow the lives of Roberta, Phyllis, and Peter as they relocate to the country and make friends with station guard Perks, in a lovely retelling of the old favorite written for children by E. Nesbit in the early 20th Century. Sapphire/Band 16 books offer longer reads to develop children's sustained engagement with texts and are more complex syntactically.

An old-fashioned, Blytonesque tale of three children whose lives change from one of almost fairytale privilege to an impoverished life in the country with their father having mysteriously disappeared. Predictable, in the way of many children‘s stories, but still enjoyable. I did note an article on Nesbit in this week‘s The New Yorker coincidentally which I am keen to read when the print edition arrives

Added more books to my kids collection as they can never have enough right? Managed to get all these for a good deal. Some really nice classics in here. Looking forward to reading them with the kids. #litsylove #familytime #classics #usborne #booksbooksbooks
