Twelve Quebec women authors one needs to read. A list I don't disagree with, *I like much.
Ariane Gélinas*, Laure Conan*, Raphaëlle Germain, Fanny Britt, Karoline Georges*, Anne Hébert*, Cathon, Marie-Renée Lavoie, Maude Veilleux, Stéphanie Boulay, Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, Gabrielle Roy* (not from Qc, though).

1ï¸âƒ£ Tagged. The precision in the writing! Wow.
2ï¸âƒ£ Black. FWIW, it's almost always black.
3ï¸âƒ£ Good Omens.
4ï¸âƒ£ That question is harder than it looks, because Cryptids first come to mind and those are different. Oriental dragons, probably. The sea kind, most especially.

alisiakae I struggled with 5ï¸âƒ£ as well. I went with fairies, but consider them mythological more than imaginary. Thought about dragons, but there are so many different types. It was hard to choose! 5y
tournevis @4thhouseontheleft I teach a pseudo-history course and in one class we go through the difference btw imaginary, cryptids, monsters and animal spirits. It's a Venn diagramme. 5y

🎓 Don't know. Mrs. Pomfrey, maybe?
🎓 Tagged. This is a major book! I still can't believe it's unfinished! The style! The prose! The depth! I should read it again.
🎓 I don't know! School was 30y ago!
🎓 Not this semester since I'm on Med leave. In the past, I've gotten a lot of cards, chocolate, candy, cookies, even wine.

twohectobooks I‘ve read a few of Gabrielle Roy‘s books in English and have really loved them. I need to try in French but haven‘t figured out where to start. 6y
tournevis @twohectobooks I'd start with La Détresse, but there is also the classic Bonheur d'occasion. 6y

1ï¸âƒ£ Tagged. I don't like biographies or memoirs, but this one is so well written, it's one of the best books ever written anywhere, anyhow.
2ï¸âƒ£ Sophie's World, by Jorsten Garrder. Throw-to-the-wall worthy. Gah.
3ï¸âƒ£ The Country of Last Things, by Paul Auster
4ï¸âƒ£ By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, by Paul Coelho. Four hours of my life I'll never get back. 🤮
@Tove_Reads

Tove_Reads Need to read Auster. Started once, the book wasn‘t for me. Need to try again. Auster is a fave of our president. He even interviewed Auster last year (public event). Auster was taken by surprise “you have a president who reads?†6y
tournevis @Tove_Reads Hehehe! I've liked everything from Country of Last Things to Mr. Vertigo 6y
tournevis @Tove_Reads After that, he went into a slump, but I am told 4321 is as good as the old recipe ones. I'll get to it at some point. 6y
