EadieB @Butterflyamore That was interesting. I haven't read any of the books suggested to you. I took the test and found out that I am a ESTJ personality type. Books suggested are true crime which I do enjoy. Other suggestions are: Hunt for Red October, Divine Comedy, Tolkien, Sherlock Holmes, Fight Club, The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. I would be interested in reading some of these so I would say that it does ring true for me. 5y

Taking a personality assessment for a class. I hate when the answer can only be disingenuous. Why must a voracious reader score towards introversion?

LibrarianRyan Last month when everyone was doing #20thingsaboutme 90% + of Litsy members are introverts. I only saw 2 plus myself extroverts 5y

I always thought and still think these types of tests are too simplistic and that the English-speaking world is a little too obsessed with M-B, but hey, it's all for fun here. (Also, not a surprise)

Quasifesto Oh, yes, I don‘t put any stock in these sorts of “tests.” I find them amusing but I would never base any important decisions on the results. 6y

Lindy Its very nature is to simplify, but it can be a useful tool for self knowledge, personal development, and improving interpersonal relations. Like any tool or model, its importance lies in how it is used. (edited) 6y

tournevis @Lindy My sense is that's it's not used really well, especially in the English-speaking world. A lot of people use it as a self-defining tool, and a lot of work places use it as an evaluating tool. And those career councilors who use it to tell you what job you _should_ be doing? No. 6y

Lindy @tournevis My experiences were very positive. One of my library colleagues was a certified Myers-Briggs facilitator and she led excellent professional development workshops for us. It was the best work environment I ever was in: diverse and respectful. We still get together socially, 20+ years on and most of us retired. 6y
