A Graphix Book: Wings of Fire Graphic Novel #1: The Dragonet Prophecy | Tui T. Sutherland
13 posts | 21 read | 5 to read
Not every dragonet wants a destiny... Clay has grown up under the mountain, chosen along with four other dragonets to fulfill a mysterious prophecy and end the war between the dragon tribes of Pyrrhia. He's not so sure about the prophecy part, but Clay can't imagine not living with the other dragonets; they're his best friends. So when one of the dragonets is threatened, all five spring into action. Together, they will choose freedom over fate, leave the mountain, and fulfill their destiny -- on their own terms. The New York Times bestselling Wings of Fire series takes flight in this first graphic novel edition, adapted by the author with art by Mike Holmes.

Summary: Tsunami, along with her friends Clay, Sunny, Starflight, and Glory are in search of the Seawing tribe to meet one of the three Sandwing queens associated with the war. Upon meeting the Queen of Seawings, we discover that Tsunami is a princess heir to the throne, one of the only ones left alive. Tsunami, with her friends imprisoned, takes on the mystery of the assassin who's been murdering heirs before they can hatch, along with many more.

Nathan.Roemmele If you like books that are fantasy-based with a hint of mystery involved, you might just like this one, right after you read the first in the series. The point of view of this graphic novel is first-person following Tsunami. It is established mainly with words like “I“, “me“, and “my“ but it also shows first-person through showing thoughts, and the story revolves mainly around Tsunami's adventures. (edited) 2y

Summary: Clay, and four of his dragonet friends are born on the brightest night for a prophecy to end a raging war between the dragon tribes. He is set out on a journey to escape the mountain with his friends to reunite their families and choose their own fates, while running into trouble on the way. If you like books that are fantasy based and faster paced action, then this one may peak your interest. The overall theme of this book is teamwork.

Nathan.Roemmele The theme of teamwork is present in this book based on the challenges that the five dragonets go through, which they all overcome as a team. They solve their problems together by cooperating with each other in order for all of them to stay alive. 2y

The most reluctant reader I know is my son. He finally picks up this highly addictive series which I placed strategically in our house. One problem: I didn't know about the cow. My sweet child loves cows so much he refuses to eat beef. I need a lamb or chicken sticker to place over this image, but it may be too late 😑😪😅

julesG How about a post-it note? 2y
mandarchy @julesG that's a good 💡 idea. 2y

You guys... I have fallen head over heels in love with this series! I'm in the middle of book two and can't put it down! Also the covers are so pretty! 😍💕🐉 With as much as I love dragons I'm a little bit ashamed that it has taken me this long to start these books!

Ruthiella I would love it if you could do a top ten of your favorite books featuring dragons 🐉. Think about it! 😀 3y

Scholastic Book Fair haul!! 📚📚📚 Our fabulous school had a “Grands” (grandparents - or any other grand person in you kid‘s life) event this morning. My folks drove down from KY to go with our boys. 💚 Delicious local donuts + book fair = two very happy little readers!

Tried listening to this one on audio a couple weeks back. The narrator‘s style wasn‘t my thing and it started VERY slow. However, decided to give the graphic novel a chance. A good choice. Still took a while to get interesting but glad I finished it. This might be a series that I just read in graphic novel form 🤷🏼‍♀️

This was actually a pretty good read for a graphic novel. I don't really enjoy reading them anymore but this book was really good. It fits in with the chapter book really well. I rate it a 8/10

I must admit I enjoyed it. It's a pretty interesting setting, with a plot that's easy to follow. A nice engaging read that's not too taxing but enjoyable.
That and dragons.
Because dragons.
