Dirty Girl: The State Sanctioned Murder of Brothel Madam Shirley Finn | Juliet Wills
2 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
In June 1975, dressed to impress in her finest ball gown, dripping with expensive jewellery and driving a limited edition luxury car, socialite and brothel madam Shirley Finn was invited to the grounds of the Royal Perth Golf Club for a special occasion her own modern day public execution. The killers knew they wouldnt be caught. Their power reigned supreme in one of the most remote and prosperous cities on earth, during an era of police protection and containment of organised crime. Rising out of an abusive welfare system to become a police-protected madam, Shirleys fate took an astonishing turn towards the top end of town. As one of Perths best-known socialites, she hosted fabulous parties. But her downfall was fast and furious, following fears she might expose money laundering and high-level corruption in The Wild West of the seventies. An important historical document that reveals the secrets and lies of powerful interests, criminal and political.- David Whish-Wilson

Pickpick

This was a fascinating & frightening #truecrime read written by the real estate agent currently selling my mum‘s home.

Thoroughly and painstaking researched, Juliet has put her heart into this, becoming good friends with the victim‘s daughter.

Another inquest into who killed Shirley Finn has just concluded here in Perth, Western Australia. The findings have not yet been released, but sadly I doubt there will be any clear answers. 🤞🤞🤞

On tv program Australian Story tonight is the story of Shirley Finn who was murdered in Perth, Western Australia in 1975.

My sister and I recently engaged Real Estate Agent Juliet Wills to sell our Mum‘s home upon her moving into aged care. When signing the contract to accept an offer on the sale last weekend, Juliet gave me this copy of her book, she said because she knew I was a book lover.

My mum, who now has dementia, was a huge fan of ⬇️

MrsMalaprop ⬆️ true crime and it‘s just so fitting that Juliet (who has been the most fabulous agent) is selling her beloved home. And it turns out Juliet literally lives around the corner from Mum‘s home. #serendipity (edited) 5y
Freespirit Wow just watching the program now....such police corruption...it was rife in the 70's wasn't it! I admire the women who have pursued this for so long. 5y
MrsMalaprop @Freespirit Unbelievable. Juliet says she sells real estate to make money so that she can pursue her other interests/passions that don‘t bring in the money. Glad there‘s people like her fighting the good fight. 5y
