Interesting concept. “Mans” are kept as pets, or hunted for meat, and the symbiotic relationship betweens Oafs and Mans is multifaceted. Reads like a dark fairy tale. I enjoyed it, though it dragged at the end with Oaf folk tales. Still, I recommend it if you‘re looking for something original.

Cathythoughts I love the quote 👍🏻❤️ 6y
RaimeyGallant Humans as pets? Am I understanding that right? I like the concept. 6y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled @RaimeyGallant Yes - in the book they‘re called “mans” and the world is dominated by large humanlike Oafs. It‘s an interesting concept. 6y

cherinium Is it adult fiction? YA? 6y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled @cherinium I‘m not sure! I can see this going either way. There are some adult elements and rape, so maybe best for older readers. 6y

Starting this today - looks interesting.

From Amazon: “In a post-human world, creatures called oafs keep humanlike “mans” as beloved pets. One day, a poor boy oaf brings home a man, whom he hides under his bed in the hopes his parents won‘t find out”

“In a post-human world, a boy oaf comes home from school and finds a female man wrapped up in red ribbon. A note around her neck reads: ‘Every boy should have a man. You‘re a fine son. Love, Dad.‘ The novel takes on many of today‘s issues including poverty, the environment, sexism, racism, war, and religion, all in lighthearted King James prose.”🙋🏾
