I loved this book. A part of parallel story lines has a now 85 year old US based art professor reflecting on her experiences in Warsaw during the war as her grandson is targeted as part of an attempt to legislate gay teachers out of jobs. The story is a strong warning from history and a powerful immigrant story. This I think will be a rare 5 out of 5 for me.

I stayed up until 4AM to finish this book. It was better than I thought it would be, and of course, prescient given the current political climate.
