🤓📚🖋🍽 #5forDinner

Sooo overdue!! Eeek!🙊
Thank U @mrozzz for tagging me- I'm finally getting around to finalizing my seating chart! Ha!😉

-Allende & Zafón wrote 2 of my all time fav 📚's & are 2 of my top Latin Am. authors.💘
- I'd 💓 to talk all things Rizzoli&Isles w/ Gerritsen!
- Pessl's 'Night Film' was a fabulous mind fu$% but I STILL have questions about that ending!😲
- Samuelson's is my fav chef memoir, plus I'd 💓 for him to cook!😋

mrozzz This is awesome! 7y

Still really working on this whole more than one picture at a time thing... thanks @Wbabdullah for the tag. I‘m really slow but here are my #5fordinner authors: Eddie Huang, Meg Elison, Mohsin Hamid, Shigeru Mizuki, and Nnedi Okorafor.

Wbabdullah @Smrloomis all new authors to me! Thanks for inviting them to dinner! I'm gonna look some of these authors up! 7y
Wbabdullah Ok ok, it's gonna take me forever to research these authors and other folks' literary dinner pics. In the spirit of "window shopping", can u tell me why you invited these authors? Looking for new reads but seriously shouldn't cuz my TBR list is overflowing ? but I can't stop! If I'm not reading, I'm litsy-ing in order to read more! Thx in advance @Smrloomis 7y
Smrloomis @Wbabdullah ok, sorry for the long delay but just in case you‘re still interested in adding to your TBR: top Shigeru Mizuki (graphic memoir series) fought in WWII for the Japanese. 7y
See All 7 Comments
Smrloomis @Wbabdullah ladies on the left: Nnedi Okorafor (science fiction) and Meg Ellison‘s very dark (dystopic fiction) Book of the Unnamed Midwife 7y
Smrloomis @Wbabdullah and gentlemen on the right Eddie Huang (memoir I picked up on a whim) and Mohsin Hamid‘s excellent Exit West (fiction). If there is a way to tag more than one book per post, someone let me know! 7y
Wbabdullah Thank you @Smrloomis ! I really appreciate u going through the trouble of tagging me and the books multiple times! I‘m going to check out some of these authors! 7y
Wbabdullah I stacked Book of the Unnamed Midwife—seems right up my alley! I basically only seem to read dystopian fiction 🤔 7y

I was tagged by @KirstieE and @KarenUK to pick five authors to have at a dinner party. I feel like there would be a lot of conversations about strong females at this table. 😊
🌟Maya Angelou
🌟Joss Whedon
🌟Malala Yousafzai
🌟J.K. Rowling
🌟Jane Austen

I'm tagging @Pruzy @DGRachel @OrangeMooseReads @CouronneDhiver @kylienoele @FictionFox @Robothugs and anyone else who wants to play! 🍽 #FiveForDinner #5ForDinner

KarenUK Great picks! Joss Whedon is a good one! 👍 7y
FictionFox Oooooh I'm gonna need to think about this one! 7y
kylienoele Thanks for the tag!! It'll take me a few to think about this 😉 7y

I wanted another dinner date! Can u blame me? The previous dinner date had a lot of testosterone, this one is estrogen-amplified! Plus I got tagged 2x-thx for the tag @Simona. My #5fordinner 2.0 are Angie Thomas, Renee Watson, Stephanie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, and the late Octavia Butler, who I met as a child and was simply a wonderful human being! #femalepower

Tag! You're it! @Smrloomis @RestlessFickleBookSlut @steverogers @julesG @beachbookworm7

Wbabdullah Man! I'm thinking I'd really like to have these women over for dinner...like NOW. I bet it could happen! Game Plan: 1. Become author 2. Invite them over 3. It won't be so weird cuz we'd all be on the same author circuit 7y
Centique Great choices! 😍 7y
Wbabdullah Thanks @Centique! @EchoLogical I haven't heard from you in a while sis! You're tagged!! 7y
EchoLogical @Wbabdullah You met Octavia Butler?! I'm freaking out! You're so lucky! 7y
Wbabdullah @EchoLogical I know, right? I gotta see if I have a photo around somewhere. If not, it really lasted in my memory. I'm so happy my mom loved to meet authors and get her books signed. Turned me into a book monster! 7y

Thanks for the tag @jdtchicago --here are my #5fordinner. All of these authors are deceased but I've enjoyed every minute I've spent with them in books: Ray Bradbury, C.S.Lewis, Emily Dickinson, Henry David Thoreau, and William Shakespeare. I think we'd be served some very deep philosophical conversation on the nature of this world for dinner.

Tag! You're it! @Smrloomis @RestlessFickleBookSlut @steverogers @julesG @beachbookworm7

Louise I think Emily could hold her own in that crowd! She dwells in possibility, after all! 😘 7y

#5ForDinner
Thanks for the tag, @jdtchicago !

1. Virginia Woolf
2. Truman Capote
3. Emily Dickinson
4. Lord Byron
5. Charlotte Bronte

We would all have to meet at Dickinson's house as she would refuse to go out. Capote and Bronte would both have the immediate hots for Byron (as would I), and Woolf and Dickinson would bond over their shared disgust at the party's hijinks.

Want to play? Consider yourself tagged by me!

AceOnRoam Very good! 7y
tpixie Hilarious! Love your story!! 7y
TrishB A cool dinner party 👍 7y

#5fordinner - authors, that is. 😉 Thanks for the tag @jdtchicago . This was fun, but tough.

JD Salinger (though he would never have agreed to it)
Kurt Vonnegut
David Sedaris
Mary Karr
Anthony Bourdain

Who would you choose?? I'd love to see your answers! @Jess7 @vivastory @saresmoore @OrangeMooseReads @Cinfhen and anyone else who would like to share.

Tamra No question, Edith Wharton. Razor sharp! 😼 7y
LyndseyReads I'm too sleepy to make a graphic, but I'd choose Toni Morrison, George Saunders, Sherman Alexie, Margaret Atwood, and Marilynn's Robinson. I love thinking about this question. 😊 7y
See All 25 Comments
OrangeMooseReads This would be an interesting dinner. Would Anthony Bourdain cook? 7y
LeahBergen Nicely done! 7y
Cinfhen Nice crew....I need to think about this one...Anthony Bourdain is a great one, but I'd be intimidated to serve him anything I prepared 😬 7y
LauraBeth Nice choices! @cinfhen - my Bourdain strategy would be to get him drunk first before he ate 7y
saresmoore Great choices! @LauraBeth @cinfhen I‘m thinking there‘s a chance he‘d show up drunk anyway. 🙃 7y
britt_brooke @LyndseyReads Nice choices!! 7y
britt_brooke @Tamra Great choice! 7y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Me, too. I'm a terrible cook anyway. I'd hire a chef to prepare something. Plus, lots of booze for Bourdain and lots of cigarettes for Vonnegut. @LauraBeth @saresmoore @OrangeMooseReads 7y
Ms_T JD Salinger ❤️😃 7y
bitterbear I thought JD Salinger was HP Lovecraft... 😂😂😂😂 7y
WarpedSweetness Bourdain is a good choice! I feel like I need to make an amendment to mine now. Lol 7y
britt_brooke @Ms_T 💚💚💚 7y
britt_brooke @WarpedSweetness I think he'd be so fun to hang out with! 7y
Avanders Ooooh David Sedaris .. yaaaaaasss 7y
britt_brooke @Avanders I could listen to him tell stories all night. 😍 7y
Avanders He's so.. I mean, funny is the obvious part. He's so insightful and perfectly observant and notices all the things you hope nobody notices ... 😍 7y
britt_brooke @Avanders Absolutely agree! 7y
GoneFishing Good picks. I thought about Thomas Pynchon, but like Salinger, he would probably never come either. 7y
britt_brooke @jdtchicago I still haven't read any Pynchon. 😬 I need to change that! 7y
