I was invited to read in a 4th grade classroom this week, and this picture book was perfect. Maybe it skews young, but the kids liked guessing what was going to happen…. And I liked the themes of feeling scared when entering a new situation, asking friends for help, and accepting help- in this case, a guide dog. Great puns too!

I don't like reading spooky stories before bed, so #screamathon after dark at my house is kid-friendly. 😃My love for picture books has been rekindled thanks to #BBRC, so I'm delving into Halloween picture books each night!

This was cute, and had a lot of puns and play on words, which had me chuckling. I love that Bonaparte's dog is named Mandible.

Back at work today! There‘s no way around talking about a broken hand in a sling when you work with kids, so #storytime this week is all about bones— aka “why you can‘t touch Ms. Erin this week.”

Most of this stack is a little too long for my 0-5 storytime crew, but the tagged book is sweet, Skeleton Hiccups is funny, and Bones: Skeletons and How They Work has great illustrations for lots of animals! 🦴

I read to the kindergarteners this week, so I got to make monster #storytime a little bit scarier than I do for toddlers. (Not much, though-- these are all pretty tame monster stories!) Definitely some good picture book #kidlit titles to check out for #Halloween !

Bonaparte is worried about his first day of school because he can't keep his bones from falling off. His friends come up with suggestions but the techniques work better for them than for Bonaparte. In the end, he makes a new friend who helps him with his trouble in a unique way. Bonaparte was able to find a solution without changing anything about himself, and this is a great story to discuss school anxieties or disabilities and care dogs.
