Infernal Affairs | Jes Battis
4 posts | 5 read
A dead body on the beach turns out to be a live demon on the run from some of the nastiest bounty hunters in this dimension-or the next. Protecting one demon from another, Tess gets wrapped up in a case that's as dangerous as it is mind-boggling, especially when it begins to involve her own past.

Random selection from the TBR pile. This series has been getting better as it progresses (a blessing because it really didn't start off well). Hopefully the trend continues.

Runner5ive Not bad if you're interested in the protagonist's favourite Virginia Woolf novel, or a supporting character's least favourite music band, or how much coffee the protagonist has in the cupboard. If you want any actual story, it's scarce. 6y

Mehso-so

This felt like a filler book but was still enjoyable. I'm really attached to these characters.

Making some progress in this one before tonight's episode of Critical Role.

Mehso-so

This is book 5 of 6, and it felt as if this was written as just a pass through on the way to all the reveals that'll happen in the next one. We finally get a better glimpse of the big bad which was nice after only brief allusions in the other books. I walked away from this with kind of a "meh" feeling. Not bad, not good, just there. I guess I was hoping for more, and now I'm really hoping there's a payoff in the final book to make up for this one.
