The Red Fairy Book - Illustrated

“If you do not pay me, I will be paid by your heirs.”

This tale fascinates me because it's supposed to be (loosely) based on history. Apparently, “When you're flipping through the town chronicle of Hamelin, you'll find an entry in the year 1384: 'It is 100 years since our children left.'“

So ... did rats bring plague? Was it a Children's Crusade? Emigration? Some even think a dancing plague. Wish we knew. #germany #readingeurope2020 #fairytales

Outside is my mood, as I just finished a book with a cliffhanger and can't read the next one yet! Hopefully this will help distract me while I wait for my hold to come in, @GingerAntics. It's so hard!!! I have little self control when it comes to books. 😩

Red is definitely my favorite color and my house may be predominantly red lol 😂 this stack just makes me happy 😊 The red B is an old reader's digest book that was somewhat damaged. I used my band saw and scroll saw to cut out my initial. I also made a few for friends in their favorite colors 😁

marleed I love your B. I purchased a B and a G as a shower gift for my soon-to-be DIL. Then we realized it was Bride and Groom as much as their name. After that - their wedding had a bit of a theme with their monograms! They still display their reader‘s digest letters 7 years later! (edited) 4y

Palimpsest I found these books in a serendipitous moment and snagged these and three others up when I saw them in antique shop with flea market price tags.
