This movie novelization of the soon-to-be major motion picture tells the story of a canine hero. When Justin's older brother, Kyle, is killed in Afghanistan, Justin can't believe that his brother is really gone. Except there's one thing that Kyle left behind Max is a highly trained military canine who has always protected his fellow soldiers. But when he loses his handler and best friend, Kyle, Max is traumatized and unable to remain in the service. He is sent home to America, where the only human he connects with is Justin, and he is soon adopted by Kyle's family, essentially saving his life. At first Justin has no interest in taking care of his late brother's troubled dog. However, the two learn to trust each other, which helps the four-legged veteran become his heroic self once more. As the pair start to unravel the mystery of what really happened to Kyle, they find more excitementand dangerthan they bargained for. But they might also find an unlikely new best friendin each other.

Little has discovered the joy of being able to instantly download library books onto her tablet. She just asked for the tagged book and I made it appear. I 💗 libraries.

Left for our vacation and I thought I would give my cousin a book and make him a bookmark for the plane ride. My cousins might not read as much as I did when I was little, but I sure try to inspire them to. 🤷‍♀️ #thataunt

So, this bored young man is my 13 yo nephew. I'm trying to encourage him to read. The last book he read and enjoyed (chosen from his library for a book report) was Max. When I asked him if he wanted another book, he said "if it's about the marines." Any suggestions? I've come up with nothing that's age appropriate, and I'm loathe to give him a book that's too far above his reading level because he's a reluctant reader.

Tnovo Maybe this series 7y
Tnovo Or this graphic novel, age is 13+ 7y
the_hibernator Thanks @Tnovo ! I'll check them out! I'm really surprised how few age appropriate books there are out there on this subject. Teen sections are stocked full of dystopian science fiction and fantasy. I like reading that stuff (within limits) but he thinks it's stupid. He's totally right! 😂 7y

Foragingfantasy There's another called 7y
Foragingfantasy And maybe this one? I haven't read either one. I feel your pain tho, my kid loves things that are more non-fiction and I'm all dragons and magic... Im glad he's reading even if it's not the books I like. Lol 7y
the_hibernator Thanks @Foragingfantasy ! I'll check it out. I'd be so happy if he'd start reading! 7y

First I will say, I have not watched this movie. I did like the book, it had some major "feels". Its a short, quick read but I know I teared up a handful of times. I loved all the characters, even though I never lived through a tragedy like this I feel it portrayed it well. ?
