Spanish Lessons
Spanish Lessons: Beginning a New Life in Spain | Derek Lambert
3 posts | 1 read
In the shrewd, comical spirit of Peter Mayle and Bill Bryson, Derek Lambert discovers the charms and idiosyncrasies of Spain as he experiences the rewards and frustrations of beginning a new life there. [set as a headline] As Lambert and his wife set about restoring their moldering casita on Spains Mediterranean Costa Blanca and learning to live the life of Spanish villagers, he introduces us to a nation far removed from the matadors, tapas bars, and sangria swillers. He uncovers the real Spaina nation of passionate, eccentric, often contradictory, but always enchanting people. Unpredictable, often hilarious, and animated by colorful characters, Spanish Lessons presents an intimate and delightful portrait of off-the-tourist-track Spain.

1. I speak Spanish and Portuñol
2. I try to learn at least the basic phrases, and I look for internet radio or streaming shows to “tune my ear.”

Groupon had a sale on Rosetta Stone so I signed up for a year of Spanish lessons. My spouse is pretty fluent and I want to be as well. Anyone else learned a language using this system?

Dulcinella I did it with duolingo, which worked pretty well. 6y
Carolyn11215 @Dulcinella I used Duolingo as well and liked it. Rosetta Stone is a total immersion experience...no English translations at all so I‘m hoping I‘ll progress a little faster. 6y

RadicalReader @MissSarahLou 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I love this pic use Duolingo and have been hooked on continuing to learn since I graduated school with learning 4 years of Spanish 6y
MissSarahLou @RadicalReader That's great! Duolingo really is a great tool! My husband is from Central America, so half of his family speaks Spanish. I have been trying to become fluent for several years now, but while I understand a good amount, it is hard for me to think quickly enough to carry a conversation. Hopefully I will get there one of these days. 🤞 (edited) 6y
