Teaching Kids to Sing
Teaching Kids to Sing | Kenneth Harold Phillips

This book presents a systematic approach to vocal techniques geared exclusively for the younger singer. This research-based text synthesizes the most recent findings in the literature, and presents it in a practical and useable format. It should help teachers of young singers to better understand the nature of the child and adolescent voice, and to provide for a sequence of developmental instruction of vocal skills.

This is teacher appreciation week, and a lot of my FB teacher friends are asking former students to reply with an update on what/how they‘re doing or with a funny story from their time in class. Even though I‘m retired, I did the same. The responses have been almost overwhelming to read. I hope all #teachersoflitsy are getting this kind of love this and every week.

#gratitude30 #music Catching up after being away. Music was my career and remains part of my daily life. I‘ve loved sharing the love of music with my hubby and kids, who are excellent musicians in their own right. Now I get to share the gift of music with my grandchildren. I am blessed.

There will be no reading time for me today. I am off to spend the day at my former school, helping the choirs prepare for their performance assessments next week. Guess I‘m still a #teacheroflitsy

#DecDays #candles During December I feel like a closet pyromaniac. We have so many candles around our house, and before going to bed I like to turn off the lights before I blow out the candles. When I was teaching, my choirs must have sung every song that mentions candles. This is the only issue of this magazine I still have, mostly because of the cover.

I've spent the week teaching at a high school choral camp, which has cut into my reading time😊 It has also meant that I left hubby alone all week as well, since he's also retired. I came home this afternoon to these. I think it means he's glad that camp is over, but I love that he still thinks to surprise me like this.

Today's laugh. I love Tone Deaf, an online comic mostly about band directors, but it hits on choral directors, too. I had this poster in my classroom, and it still makes me smile.

Too tired to even look at the photo challenge prompts today. I spent the day at my old school, working with the choirs as they prepare for performance assessments. My former student teacher now directs the program and invited me. It was fun, but exhausting. Not sure how I did it all those years. But at least for today I am a #teacheroflitsy.
