Book 3. Last time we heard from Brigitte she was working part time for an exterminator, had a girlfriend, was still living with her mother, things were looking up. When we hook back with Brigitte, she works full time in a butcher's shop, learning the ropes, finding a balance between her anger issues and dealing with every day life. Her girlfriend Béatrice enters a modern art competition. Brigitte finds that finally life is worth living after all.

Book 2. Mental illness is a hard subject to tackle and the author does take the reader almost inside this undiscovered and dangerous country but it's not a place I wish to visit often or again. Brigitte hit rock bottom in book 1 now she faces life and how to live again. She meets Beatrice tries to do more than exist.

First person narrative of young adult named Brigitte lost inside her head, living in the middle of nowhere in a middle class French Canadian family. Well, not exactly nowhere because I know these places, I live near these places. It's a book on alienation, teen alienation and how you cope and grow up or don't cope and end up apart from the 'normal' world.

This trilogy is set in my neck of the woods. My library is a set piece of the second book. The author is someone I see and talk to. I'll post reviews. It's about a young woman battling mental illness, finding a sense of self, it's a bit dark, it's a bit funny, it's well written, it has style. #localauthor #aprilbookshowers
