I don‘t think I‘ll ever travel to Hawaii, but this book definitely took me there. It is filled with beautiful art and stories of this volcanic goddess.

Hey Littens! Several of you (& my entire family)🤗have reached out to check on me with the Kilauea eruption on The Big Island so I thought I should post an update. I'm on Oahu, a few islands away & so far we have had no negative effects here. My thoughts & prayers are for everyone there. I have friends on the island-but no one in the communities that are having to evacuate.🙏🏻

Mahalo for thinking of me, it warms my ❤️& I'll keep you posted!

TheBookgeekFrau Glad you‘re Ok! 💕 8y
DebinHawaii P.S. I snagged this pic from a news site on Instagram. If you type in #Kilauea on there, there are lots of videos and pics that are fascinating to see and pretty scary. 😱🌋 (edited) 8y
DGRachel Glad you are safe! 8y

Scurvygirl Spectacular! So, so glad you guys are safe. I guess we all pick where we live and it all has its dangers. That‘s just gorgeous to behold.🌋😽 8y

quietlycuriouskate My husband said the words "massive volcanic eruption in Hawaii" to me a few hours ago and I admit I checked that you (and Max!) were still posting as usual. ❤ 8y
Suzze Glad to hear! You were the first person I thought of. My son was in Hawaii the other day for an hour. LOL. He left the Phillipines on Tuesday. Landed in Guam on Wednesday. Took off from Guam on Wednesday, landed in Honolulu on Tuesday. Took off from Honolulu Tuesday and landed in Houston on Wednesday. 8y

Leftcoastzen Glad you are safe !I am very concerned about you fellow Hawaiians on that island, the power of that volcano is immense. (edited) 8y
DebinHawaii @C.Perone @DGRachel @rubyslippersreads @GripLitGrl @Scurvygirl @Andrew65 @Crazeedi @River_Voice @MinDea Mahalo to all of you! We remain fine. There was an earthquake about an hour ago that some people felt here, I didn't--but no tsunami. 🙏🏻 8y
DebinHawaii @Suzze Thanks for thinking of me! 💜That is a lot of flying! I've done the Philippines to and from both Honolulu and Seattle with stops in Japan. It makes for long days. 😬 8y
DebinHawaii @Leftcoastzen Yes, there is good reason to be concerned still, especially for the people who have homes in the path of the lava. My thoughts and prayers are with them too. 🙏🏻💜 8y
JenReadsAlot I thought of you right away but this is my first chance to get on litsy! 8y
Dragon Thanks 🙏 for the update! I‘m glad you are safe ! Volcano 🌋 eruption are super scary! 8y

Kalalalatja Good to know you are all right! ❤️ 8y
saguarosally Good that you‘re safe. My friend is about five miles from the evacuations. 😱 I‘m wishing he would get back to Arizona with all due haste. Arizona summers are a bit cooler than lava flows. Not by much, though. 🔥🔥 8y

I first read Herb Kane (Ancient Hawai'i) when preparing for a two-week trip to the Big Island about six years ago--he was my favorite resource to understanding the islands (apart from my then-boyfriend and his family). I got PELE at the Jaggar Museum but waited entirely too long to read it! I loved the blend of lore, historical documentation, and personal experience, and I'm glad I never took any rock from Kīlauea. Sending shakas to Uncle Herb!

LindsayReads Oh yeah! And this was my #ReadHarder published-in-the-decade-I-was-born read! Woot! One more to go! 9y
