It‘s my favorite day of the month! @TheAromaofBooks has chosen our spins! My #bookspin is this month‘s buddy read with @StayCurious and my #doublespin is actually the same as last month‘s #doublespin! I always wonder if that will happen in the months I carry books over but I never really expected it to 🤣 Now that it has I think I‘m fine counting it for both months though since it‘s 800pgs and I‘m only about 20% of the way through…

The Bobolink makes frequent appearances in Dickinson‘s poems. Not being a bird person I had to look them up to even be 💯sure this was a bird 😂😅. But the word is soooo fun to say!!! #WeirdWords @CBee

After comparing the first two fascicles it seems like there are major differences in punctuation, spelling, and line/stanza formatting, but only minor differences in word choice. For ease of reading and I‘m continuing on with just Miller‘s version right now, but I expect in the future it‘s not the one I‘ll pick up just for the sake reading these poems.

Next up. I got the Miller version almost a year ago, but haven‘t had time to do more than flip through it and I‘ve been wanting to do a comparative reading of these. I was fascinated when I first learned how heavily edited the wording of her poems had been by her posthumous editors, and I‘m so excited to see what insights this reading provides. The B&N edition I own doesn‘t have all the poems, but most, so I think it‘ll work fine to compare with.

#poetrymonth I love poetry, and this is the month to show them off. I love these 3 & love a good big book of collected works .

Emily Dickinson has been one of my favorite poets since high school, but I only recently realized just HOW much other people edited her work after her death. I‘m excited about this volume by Christine Miller that preserves exactly what she wrote including her own edits (though thankfully retyped since the poets handwriting is completely illegible!) This month I‘m starting a side by side reading of it & my old standard B&N version. 👇🏼

Most of my haul from the Lucas County Friends of the Library sale. The John Green book is a signed, limited print from a charity event...

I also got a handful of older books that aren't in the pile. Mostly classic poetry and fairy tales.

I wanted to let you know that I may be off Litsy for awhile. Today while I was at work I got a call from the coroner's office that no one wants to get. Although it was not entirely unexpected, it was very disturbing. My younger daughter and I had been estranged for a long time, but it doesn't make it any easier. My granddaughter, who I do see often, is taking it hard. I found this poem by Emily Dickinson and think it is appropriate.
